What is thermal tape used for?

• Muffler sound. When modifying an exhaust pipe, homemade or tuning muffler systems (for example SPIDERS or resonators) are often installed. If something is not done according to the rules - without special calculations - then the exhaust sound will be “ringing” instead of deep bass. This effect can be partially removed by wrapping the exhaust pipe with thermal tape; in this case, the ringing will be reduced and some of the sound will be absorbed.
• Increased power. The exhaust system removes exhaust gases through a manifold, catalyst, resonator, and the faster they pass through the pipe, the easier it is for the engine. Hot exhaust gases exit into the exhaust manifold, then they cool and compress - their ability to pass through decreases. And as we know from physics, at high temperatures, the volume of gas is larger for the same mass. It follows from this that heated (not cooled) gas will move faster through the exhaust system. The exhaust gas is removed faster, thereby increasing power.
• Engine compartment temperature - another purpose of thermal tape is to reduce the temperature in the engine compartment, and this is a big plus for many plastic parts, electrical wiring and also for the battery.
• Mechanical engineering, thermal tape is also used in the production of electric generators, aircraft and shipbuilding, and in military equipment to insulate hot parts and components of mechanisms.
