- Pumice (came in the 18th century from the Dutch pums, from the Latin pumex, the same root as the Latin spuma, “foam”), or pumicite - porous volcanic glass, formed as a result of the release of gases during the rapid solidification of acidic and medium lavas.
- Pumice stone looks dense, but is porous and lightweight. Pumice does not sink in water and can be easily crushed. In its composition and appearance, it resembles pumice slag.
- Pumice is used to soften rough skin on the feet, remove dead cells, and eliminate calluses and corns.
