Bruxism is a disease (habit) consisting of involuntary and uncontrolled clenching and grinding of teeth (most often during sleep). Its main cause is stress and muscle tension.
A relaxing mouthguard is a way to relieve the symptoms of pinched and grinding teeth. When this happens, the person clenches his jaw up to 10 times harder than, for example, while eating. The result is, among others, abrasion of the enamel, bleeding when brushing teeth, pain in the temporomandibular joint and muscles, pain in the jaw, etc.
Use and Preparation:
- Boiled water should be poured into a glass container.
- The mouthguard should be lowered into a container for 20-30 seconds in almost boiling water.
- When the vertical walls of the mouth guard diverge slightly towards the horizontal, the mouth guard should be put on the jaw, cutting off the excess.
- After 1-2 minutes, take it out of your mouth and put it in cold water for 2-3 minutes.
